It can be very hard to support a loved one with schizophrenia. He or she may say things that are not true or act on things that are not real. Schizophrenia is a real illness that can have a big effect on your health and well-being.
What you can do

It is very important for people with schizophrenia to get treatment. Help them stick to their treatment and see their doctor and/or mental health care provider regularly. - Be kind to them:
It can be very hard to live with schizophrenia. You can help by being kind and respectful. However, it is also important to help them access care and services if they act in a way that is dangerous or inappropriate. - Find a support group in the area:
There are many support groups that can help people with schizophrenia. There are also support groups for the family members of people with schizophrenia.
