Pee Dee Healthy Start, Inc.

Pee Dee Healthy Start provides pregnant women and mothers with resources, support and help they need to have healthy babies. Healthy Start is committed to improving the health of babies in the Pee Dee Region through sustained community-driven collaborative services.

Healthy Start Outreach and Client Recruitment actively reaches out to the Pee Dee region to recruit prenatal and interconceptional clients and their infants into a comprehensive system of care. The Rural Outreach Workers (ROWS) are trained paraprofessionals who live in the counties they serve, traveling from door-to-door into homes, schools, churches and other community settings. They reach out to women and family members who may need prenatal care, parenting assistance or help with health or social service issues, including housing and transportation.

The main goal of Healthy Start is to significantly reduce the infant death rate and develop long range strategies to strengthen healthcare in the region. Pee Dee Healthy Start is a free program available to all pregnant women and families with babies less than three years old living in Chesterfield, Darlington, Marion and Williamsburg Counties.
